The "room" is a penthouse apartment, more like an AirBnB. This was very nice. We had 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with very spacious showers, a full kitchen, living room, dining room, and a generous balcony. A room with a VIEW! Almost 100% renovated. Air conditioned. The Princeps, itself, is located on a different floor of an attached building (not the ground floor). This is where reception, offices, breakfast buffet (excellent!), and other rooms are. So while you are staying in the penthouse, it's almost like being a native. The location was great for some neighborhood dining options and it's only a few blocks to the train station, which was convenient for our day trip to Florence. Nothing is really "far" in Rome, however walking to the main sites is a little further from this location.
Could be better
There was nothing that we really didn't like. There are some things that don't make sense from a spoiled American's point of view. For example, they fully renovated the unit we were in. The unit is very large by European standards, even American standards. But they left the bedrooms very small. The beds fit. But it was difficult to deal with luggage, and even walk around. We needed to use the living room for luggage. We were only there 3 days, so this was a minor issue. And where the bath sinks are, vessel or basin sinks were used. This area is small to begin with so there was very little space to put toiletries. Again, minor inconvenience.
